The electrical and electronics industries have produced a massive effort over the last six months in supporting industry charity EEIBA and despite growing predictions; the signs are that this will continue.
powerBall, held in London in November hosted a full house that produced an amazing £320,000. With the 2009 event taking place on 13 November, the charity is delighted that by early January, an unprecedented figure of well over 200 places had already been booked.
EEIBA was also pleased that its tremendously supportive branch network across the UK pulled out the stops in producing a fantastic finish to 2008. Christmas lunches held by the Glasgow & West of Scotland Branch and the Edinburgh & South East Scotland Branch proved massively successful with a combined return of over £55,000.
The Yorkshire Ridings Christmas Lunch and the Sheffield Branch Dinner, to name but two, were also extremely successful, with similar events in Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and three in Sussex providing fantastic support.
2009 will be just as busy, with a full calendar of fundraising events, such as the ever - popular National Golf Championships that will be held at the superb Oxfordshire Golf Club, Oxford, on 5 June.
EEIBA Chief Executive, Timothy Lambert says, “We are receiving more calls than ever from people who need our help, so I am delighted with the way that our supporters have reacted.’
‘We all know that this year is going to be incredibly difficult. Early in 2008, the financial pages were forecasting difficult times, but nobody realised that it would be quite like this! However, we do know that with industry’s unfailing support, we will get by and help a growing number of industry friends who will be forever thankful.”
