100 year Celebrations – Eaton’s Centenary Fund

Eaton is celebrating 100 years of its MEM brand by setting up and running a 'Centenary Fund'. This is a matched funding scheme to support its customers in raising money for a good cause in 2008 and 2009. Eaton has identified the Electrical and Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA) as the appropriate charity to support.

Eaton will match money raised by customers up to £25,000, making an overall total of £50,000.

The scheme will commence on 1 September 2008 and matched funding will be available to the levels above until 31 August 2009 or until funds are exhausted. At least £50 must be raised before Eaton will match and there will be a maximum matching per event of £1,000.

Eaton has enlisted the support of The Dove Trust to administer the scheme on line and monitor the ongoing progress of the scheme. The Dove Trust (charitable organisation) supports clients who wish to make tax efficient donations to charity while keeping administration charges to a minimum.

The Dove Trust will also maintain the Eaton Celebration website on www.charitygiving.co.uk. Details of events and funds raised will be on this website and updated regularly through the year.

The first matched funding event as part of this celebration was held at the Electrical Industry Awards 2008 on 29 October, when more than £2,300 was raised from a raffle which Eaton will match fund.

Timothy Lambert, EEIBA Chief Executive comments: ”We have a long established and close relationship with our colleagues at Eaton, which goes back to the earliest days of the MEM company and EEIBA’s own beginnings. What a positive and forward-looking way to celebrate a momentous occasion! And, with “rainy days ahead”, for many on low incomes, the funding in support of our welfare care programmes is very much needed and appreciated.”
