Welfare care and Support

Who can benefit: those families, individuals and dependants who are or have been primarily engaged in the electrical and electronics industries and allied sciences and industries

Who can’t benefit: those whose connection with the electrical and electronics industries is slight (noting that signposting to other organisations who may be able to help is offered)

What we do: EEIBA’s welfare care programmes centre around these broad groups of need:

  • crisis resolution and support
  • ameliorating the impact of disability
  • the effect of low income and savings
  • social exclusion

EEIBA does this by:

  • sourcing benefits and allowances
  • ensuring applicants apply for State benefits and allowances
  • collaborating with and seeking funding from other charities and benefit networks
  • signposting to other providers of support – particularly when EEIBA cannot help
  • making financial grants (either weekly or one-off)
  • offering practical guidance

How EEIBA helps

Providing grants or loans for:

  • adaptations and changes to a home
  • household repairs and maintenance

Giving financial grants towards:

  • household bills (rent, mortgage, energy, Council tax)
  • medical and mobility equipment
  • funeral expenses
  • household items
  • clothing and school uniforms
  • holidays
  • respite care
  • immediate needs
  • crisis situation/emergency aid
  • travel expenses (hospital visits)
  • payment of services
  • provision of facilities

and to other charities and organisations in support of eligible applicants.

What we don’t do:

  • private medical care and private treatment
  • private education
  • further education fees
  • residential and care home fees (except Careways Trust nominees and former Brooke House residents)
  • bankruptcy fees
  • headstones and funeral plaques
