Help for an electrician with Multiple Sclerosis

Arthur Shaw Arthur Shaw worked for a member of the Electrical Contractors’ Association as an electrician.

In recent years, he has developed multiple sclerosis causing him very poor mobility, particularly in getting up and down stairs.

BEN the motor trades charity, initially approached the EEIBA on behalf of Arthur, to see whether it could help him in obtaining a much needed stair lift, which was going to cost £1,700.

BEN agreed to a grant of £650 towards the cost, and so our Senior Welfare Officer approached other relevant charities to see whether we could get further assistance.

Contributions from EEIBA, BEN and other charities enabled the cost of the stair lift to be covered.

This is just another example of how the EEIBA is able to defray its costs and in so doing is able to help more people from our industries who are in need.
