Mr Agnew's house was damp, so he was advised by his local council to install central heating.
EEIBA was first contacted when it was approached by SSAFA to contribute towards the cost.
Once it was confirmed that Mr Agnew, aged 73, had worked for the Yorkshire Electricity Board for 32 years, we took over the lead position from SSAFA and worked with RWE Npower Benevolent Society so that the central heating could be installed.
Shortly after this, Mr Agnew's bathroom was adapted to have a walk-in shower instead of a bath. The cost of this was covered by an adaptation grant.
However, partial re-tiling was required and the Benevolent Society covered this cost. As a result of the Society's assistance, Mr Agnew has been able to enjoy a warm and damp-free winter. This year the charity is requesting your help by supporting the 2008 Christmas Card Appeal.
