A former power industry employee has enjoyed a much needed respite break, thanks to help provided by the Electrical & Electronics Industry Benevolent Association (EEIBA).

Patrick Carroll worked as a joiner's mate for 28 years with East Midlands Electricity before being forced to retire due to ill health at the relatively young age of 46. His wife Ruth, who looks after him on a daily basis while also holding down a part time job, contacted EEIBA for financial assistance to provide a respite break for Patrick.

Working with two local charities, EEIBA was able to arrange a week long stay at the Park House Hotel, which is a hotel for the disabled set within the Royal Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Ruth Carroll said: The Park House Hotel is not a care home, but a hotel in every sense, which has been created specifically with the disabled in mind. It has fantastic facilities and has access to accommodate all kinds of disabilities.

My husband stayed there for a week and came away feeling much better, having really benefitted from the brilliant care provided by the staff. This also gave me the chance to have a break and meant that I was also able take time out to visit my son, while knowing Patrick was in safe hands.

I'd like to thank EEIBA for all their help and support in arranging this, as well as the Park House Hotel for everything they've done for us and I hope that Patrick will able to return there at some stage in the future.
