Best of British 2011 London powerBall raises a STAGGERING £246,850 beating previous year's fundraising total. Thank you!

The London powerBall on 11.11.11 (Remembrance Day) offered the EEIBA Board of Trustees and guests the opportunity to show appreciation to our Armed Forces, past and present and to celebrate all that is the Best of British.

The venue for the event was the Great Room, Grosvenor House Hotel on London's prestigious Park Lane, Mayfair.

Jim McArthur, EEIBA President opened the event with a powerful speech highlighting the recent achievements of the Charity and its focus going forward. Mr McArthur also welcomed Catherine Connolly, Director with Honeywell MK, John Hogan, CEO of Newey & Eyre and Paul Loke, Director with Edmundson Electrical to the EEIBA Board of Trustees. He also announced Rafe Bateson, Sales and Marketing Director of WF Electrical and Pauline Cooke, Secretary to the Management Committee of RWE npower as appointed Vice-Presidents. The EEIBA President also thanked the existing Trustees, the immediate Past President, Ian Humphreys for his vision and leadership and in closing, thanked all the sponsors that have contributed to the EEIBA Industry Charity in their own way. In his final comments, the EEIBA President thanked Richard Birtchnell, event organiser for his contribution to the powerBall events past and present on his retirement of the event, and to Val Austin and her team at EEIBA Head Office.

Guests at this electrical industry premier Black Tie event included colleagues from Schneider UK, Morrisons Utility Services, Heatrae Sadia, Philips Lighting, M K Electric, The Electrical Safety Council (ESC), Thorn Lighting, Tridonic, UK Power Networks, BI Electrical Services, ABB, Elkay Electrical, Electric Center, Edmundson Electrical, Glen Dimplex, Newey and Eyre, Stearn Electric, NICEIC, Thomas and Betts, Havells Switchgear, Eaton Electric, and Electrium Sales, as well as representatives from the Regional Committees.

With a Best of British Theme, guests were entertained in a truly patriotic fashion. The 24th Invicta Rifles provided a marvellous toe stomping marching display. Formed in 2006, the band consists of ex-regular and current serving musicians from the military and was a perfect addition to a British Event on Remembrance Day. This was followed by music from Star and Cabaret by the cast of Dreamboats and Petticoats.

In between the entertainment, guests joined in the thrills of the evening's fundraising activities. There was a Grand Auction, Stand up Bingo Game, and a Grand Raffle Draw. Amazing prizes were handed out - A holiday to Mauritius - courtesy of Edmundson Electrical, six tickets to Old Trafford for the Manchester Utd v Blackburn Rovers match on Dec 31st courtesy of Schneider UK, 2 nights at Ricks Stein's Empire in Padstow courtesy of Fitzgerald Lighting Cornwall Ltd, a Built in Hob/Stove from Glen Dimplex, an iPhone4, courtesy of Heatrae Sadia, Flowers For A Year were donated by Stearn Electric and the Ladies' Gift Hampers donated by Morrison Utility Services. The EEIBA would like to thank our supporters for these generous contributions to the events fundraising prizes.

The EEIBA would like to take this opportunity to thank Event Organiser Richard Birtchnell, who is retiring from London powerBall after many years.

Overall, an outstanding event, fantastic contributions, a record-breaking amount raised and a Great British knees-up had by all. Congratulations to all involved with the London powerBall 2011.
